9 July 2007, Celtel launches Multi Media Messages (MMS) across neworks in KenyaCeltel Kenya customers will now be able to send and receive Multi Media Messages (MMS) across networks. The follows a successful interconnection agreement signed between Celtel Safaricom. The Multi Media Message service will enable customers to send/receive picture messages, use interactive applications e.g. video chat, internet banking, online auctions etc as well as audio clips e.g. radio. Building on Celtel’s success of the widest coverage and most reliable network in Kenya, the MMS service will further open more communication avenues for Celtel customers across the country. Commenting on the service, Celtel Kenya CEO David Murray:” The MMS service bring real life scenarios for all Celtel customers, both prepaid and postpaid by allowing them to keep in touch and exchange information, send and receive funky ring tones, business contacts and friends while on the move.” “They can also be in touch through video streaming and audio clips while on the move.”
