12 August 2005, Celtel launches Mobile banking Top up service

Celtel Kenya has launched Mobile banking airtime top up service with the Co-operative Bank which allows Celtel and Cooperative bank customers to top up airtime directly from their bank accounts.

The service, is yet another move by Celtel to meet the needs of customers and has plenty of benefits including 24 hour availability of airtime, topping up from anywhere and flexibility of re-charge denominations.

To access this service, the customers who are account holders at Cooperative bank will only fill in a form at any Co-operative bank branch countrywide.

Celtel Kenya chief marketing officer Gilles Atayi, said “The Mobile banking service will further enhance availability of airtime to all co-operative bank customers located in 36 co-op bank branches countrywide”.

The Mobile banking service allows co-operative bank to debit account holders directly once the top up.The airtime will be available in denominations of Kshs 100, Kshs 200, Kshs 500 and Kshs 1,000.

The Mobile banking service directly supports Celtel’s commitment of making life better. In the recent past, Celtel has launched a variety of products and services aimed at delivering better services to customers including, Me2U Celtel to Celtel airtime transfer, Top Up at the Till at nakumatt supermarket chain, Top Up Chap Chap, among others.
