Mobile Business (Connect. To the net)Get a quick, affordable and reliable connection to the Internet and E-mail anytime, anywhere at 9600bps within our ever expanding network by hooking up to Mobile Business (350). Mobile Business offers all Celtel subscribers an easy and affordable way to instantly access the internet and e-mail. The service is accessed in three ways: - By connecting your Celtel mobile phone to your PC or laptop via data cable (Though purchased separately, you should ensure that the cables are from the phone manufacture) or wireless connection (i.e. infrared or Bluetooth). In this case you will need to setup your mobile device as a modem. You can thereafter browse the internet on your computer, send and receive emails, etc. Not every mobile phone will act as a modem and you need to verify on your phone manual whether your phone can support data transmission. Rule of the thumb is that a phone with infrared will support data transmission.
- By connecting a PC card to your laptop.
- By accessing the internet via a WAP, xHTML, or HTML enabled device.
Making an Internet Connection If using Option 1 i.e. connecting your Celtel mobile phone to your PC or laptop via data cable or using wireless connection (i.e. infrared or Bluetooth): - The first step is to connect the hardware (data cables) to the PC and mobile phone or align the Mobile Phone's Infrared to that of the laptop or activate Bluetooth.
- Install the mobile phone's software onto the PC/Laptop. This is usually found on a CD included in the phone starter pack. If not available, the software could be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Windows 2000 and XP will automatically load you phone modem once connection is established.
- In the Control Panel
- Select Network Connections
- Select Create a New Connection
- Create a new dial-up connection that directs your computer to GSM modem loaded earlier in Step 1.
- Specify dial-up number: 350
- No user name or password required
- Save and exit
Anytime you wish to browse the internet, use your new account. A customer will not be required to set up the Data configurations every time they need to browse the internet. If using Option 2 i.e. connecting a PC card to your laptop, after setting up your PC card as a modem: - Settings name : Mobile Business
